        Mesozoic f ying reptile with large, bat-like wings.  that inland seas covered much of Earth’s continents.

                                                          This provided environments for the evolution of new
                                                          organisms.

                                                          Throughout the Mesozoic era, the North American
                                                          continent moved westward.
                                                          Its western edge collided with several small
                                                          landmasses carried on an ancient oceanic plate.

                                                          The Rocky Mountains began forming from this
                                                          collision.
