Mo8-L4b: What are Renewable and Nonrenewable Resources

                                  What are Renewable and
                 Mo8-L4b
                              Nonrenewable Energy Resources?
               KEY CONCEPTS:
               1. What are renewable and nonrenewable energy
                    resources?

                            Vocabulary A-Z

                            Let us learn some vocabulary

                Renewable Energy Resource
a resource that can be replenished by natural
processes at least as quickly as it is used.

Wind moves the blades of a wind turbine to generate
                                                                  electric energy.

                Non-Renewable Energy Resource
resource that is used faster that it can be replaced by
                natural processes.
In hydroelectric plants, falling water is channeled
through a turbine which transforms mechanical
                                                                  energy into electric energy.

               Let’s Begin

               Energy Transformations and Electric Energy

A renewable energy resource is an energy resource
that is replaced as fast as, or faster than, it is used.
Solar energy from the Sun is one type of renewable
energy resource that can be converted into electric
               energy.
                                                                                                                  57
